Please be informed that effective from effective 12th of July 2012 there shall
be a change in the customs clearance of shipments in to Nigeria.
The highlight of the change is as stated below. To avoid any delays in the
clearance of dutiable shipments toNigeriawe all must do well to comply. .
a. Commercial Invoices and the declared value for dutiable Inbound WPX
b. shipments would now be near impossible to replace or amend. The process
c. is now very complex and timeline is not under DHL control.
b. All requests for RTO are now no longer going to be automatic, particularly
for shipments that have already been customs duty assessed on the
ASYCUDA platform for customs duty payment. Duty payments would have to
be made by origin or cnor before RTO
c. All Inbound WPX shipments to Nigeria MUST have a detailed Commercial
Invoice, showing the HS code of the listed Item, Number of Units, Unit Value,
Total Value and value declared in Dollars or Euros.
d. Network should be reminded that customs duties and taxes are calculated
based on the CIF value (Cost, Freight & Insurance)
e. All shipments coming back as repair and return MUST have a repair and
return certificate prepared before it left LOS and also the value declared on the
Commercial Invoice must be the cost of repair.
f. All Shipments under the regulation of the National Agency for Food and Drug
Administration and Control (NAFDAC) MUST arriveNigeriawith their approval
/exemption certificates to forestall delays at the gateway
